Newton Life Science Park - Biogas, Newton Business Park

The project seeks to design and install a 250kWh anaerobic digestion plant at Newton Business Park, requiring approximately 6000 tones of biomass input per year and generating approximately 2 MWh of electricity annually.

Business Process Outsourcing Centre, Newton Building #12 Newton

Earmarked for development as a Business Center to accommodate local and offshore business entities.  The single story building approximately 50,420 sq. ft and encompasses the re-configuration of the existing spare to provide independent 10,000 sq. ft spaces suitable for business operations such as call centers and data entry operations.

International Food Science Center, Building #11 Newton

The IFSC will be supported by an international panel of experts through a Food Science Council, and will provide expertise in several strategic areas such as Food safety, HACCP, Nutritional Testing, Product Design and Develop and International Packaging and Labelling.

Identified as Phase 1 for Biopharma Industry in conjunction with Newton the location for the Pharmaceutical free trade zone as they look to provide Stable Electricity supply, Adequate water supply, and Close Proximity to Customs and Runways.

Grazettes Centre for Automotive Excellence - The Bay Centre for Automotive Excellence (Phase 1)

Business Model: Short term online booking system with use facility systems and business model.  Centered around insurance companies as core customers for off take agreements for vehicle repairs and maintenance.  The Bay provides a controlled quality environment for the development of the Automotive Excellence.  The industry is expected to benefit from developments in robotics which will allow for greater efficiencies.

Expanded BAY for Collision repairs and Spray Booth (Phase 2)

Expansion of Mechanics Bay concept to include a Spray Booth and additional mechanical service repair facility for buses and trucks. The Expansion of the Mechanics Bay concept to include a Robotics Spray Booth and additional Collison support services.  Barbados record over 8000 road accidents per year and insurance companies want to reduce the cost of repair to them as insurers.

Six Roads Green Manufacturing and Commercial Centre - Home & Furnishing Centre, Building #4 Six Roads

In collaboration with national Housing and the Hope Home Project , the Home and Furnishing project, designed to upgrade the production and increase the output and export sales of flat pack homes, furniture and furnishing manufacturers.  The project aimed to provide an umbrella for bulk purchasing of raw materials under the St. Barnabas accord with Guyana, with the provision of export marketing.  The Six Roads site will work in tandem with the Spring Garden furniture cluster

Built out of new green manufacturing Centre at  Spring Garden bottle water facility – transforming spring water using new technologies.

Spring Garden Industrial Estate - Home & Furniture Cluster, Building #8 - Spring Garden Estate

Furniture project, designed to upgrade the production and increase the output and export sales of local furniture manufacturers.  The project aimed to provide umbrella for bulk purchasing of raw materials, with the provision of kiln drying services and export marketing.  The Spring Garden site will work in tandem with the Six Roads furniture store cluster.

Pelican Industrial Estate

Designed to improve Pelican Craft Center’s amenities and marketability.  Zone 1: “Pretty Pelican” – Shops 1-27, Pelican Craft Center to be transformed to an entertainment and food and beverage hub, for both locals and visitors to Barbados to enjoy local cuisine.  Zone 2: “Pink Pelican” – Buildings #1, 2 and 3 – Pelican Industrial Estate will become a combined maker space for the product and industrial designers and artisans.  Zone 3: “Blue Pelican” – Building #7 – Pelican industrial Estate (The old Tropical Battery Building), and Building #6 – Pelican Industrial Estate have been identified.

Lowlands Industrial Estate

Subdivision of land from other lands of Balls Plantation for industrial purposes, is a ten (10) Acre site which is to donated to Export Barbados/BIDC as part of a Planning Obligations Agreements with the Government of Barbados linked to a proposal which includes lands at the Ridge Plantation. Lowlands Industrial Estate is to be developed to provide half Acre and one Acre lots for light manufacturing.

Greenland Science Park

BIDC plans to establish a Science Park at Greenland, St. Andrew, a site currently managed by the Sanitation Service Authority.  Originally earmarked as a landfill, Greenland’s re-purposing aligns with Eco industrial park (EIP) standards, especially given its proximity to a natural reserve.  Spanning 60 acres, it boasts access roads, utilities, and two warehouse structures.  Collaborative discussions between Export Barbados, Ministry of Agriculture and the Sanitation Service Authority aim to form a long-term join venture for the site’s use, ensuring its transformation aligns with eco-industrial objectives and sustainable developments goals.
